Answers
1)  Q Who is eligible for reimbursement?ge/pjp
A
Any full-time employee may be eligible for tuition reimbursement. Also, the employee must return to the District the following school year.
2)  Q I plan on taking courses in the fall. How do I sign up to get reimbursed for these courses?
A
All courses must first be pre-approved by your supervisor and the Assistant Superintendent for HR by completing a Course Approval Form. After you complete an approval form, you may register for the course. After the completion of the course, you may fill out the Tuition Reimbursement form (now included with track advancement).
3)  Q What items does the HR department need from me for reimbursement?
A
The HR department will need 4 items to pay out tuition reimbursement:
1. Course Approval Form
2. Tuition Reimbursement Form
3. Grade Sheet
4. Receipt/Proof of Payment
4)  Q What is the maximum amount I can receive for tuition reimbursement?
A
Regular courses will be reimbursed at a maximum rate of $100 per credit hour with a maximum per school year of six (6) credit hours. Any courses taken towards a degree program that is listed as critical needs will be reimbursed at a maximum rate of $200 per credit hour with a maximum per school year of six (6) credit hours.
5)  Q Who decides what is considered “critical needs”?
A
A list of critical needs areas is obtained each year from DESE. The list will be posted to the District website.
6)  Q When should I turn in my tuition reimbursement items?
A
All items must be to the HR department by June 1st.
7)  Q What is a “grade sheet”?
A
A grade sheet is simply your grade report from the college/university. It does NOT have to be an official transcript.
8)  Q What is considered a “receipt”?
A
A receipt must be from the university that clearly states the cost of the course and payment received. A copy of a check to the college/university is not sufficient as proof of payment.
9)  Q How much money is allotted in the budget for Certified Tuition Reimbursement?
A
$60,000
10)  Q What if the amount of requests for reimbursement exceeds the budgeted amount?
A
If the amount of requests exceeds the budgeted amount, the money will be prorated accordingly.
11)  Q When should I expect my reimbursement?
A
Reimbursement checks are paid in June and will be issued as a separate check.
